Philatelists everywhere can rejoice over this one. Saint Lucia, an island nation in the eastern carribean honors one of Wisconsin's homegrown products, AMC's AMX...previously featured here.
Like Wisconsin, Saint Lucia was part of the French colonial empire during the sixteen and seventeen hundreds. Grouped in an island chain, with Martinique and Barbados, it has one more Wisconsin connection...Indian leaders and warriors captured during Wisconsin's Fox/French Wars were imprisoned on these Islands (mostly in Martinique). Serving life terms as slave laborers, most perished within a few years of their arrival.
