Rachel Maddow sums up Wisconsin's extraordinary Labor History

And she does it quite well, I love it when she describes the Packers as a "collective". The very thought must cause a chill to run down the collective spine of the Tea Party.

Thanks for the history lesson Rachel, but I think that she along with everyone else misses the point by failing to differentiate between public and private unions.

The "collective" works very well in local groups with local control, not so well beyond that. And there is a huge difference between public and private sector bargaining.

Thank you for starting these posts up again. Great to see.

Unions have their place, and were good and necessary when protecting genuinely poor, exhausted workers from the Dickensian conditions of private employers decades ago. That we should be historically proud of. Protecting pyramid-scheme early retirement pensions and jobs for low-skilled teachers I'm not so sure.
